Christmas 2012

So, it's almost time to open my presents. I know I got slippers and I can't wait to own them because my feet are cold. After the presents are open, I have phone calls to make and a meal to cook. The bread is baked, the pie is done, the presents wrapped for everyone - simply having a wonderful Christmastime!

This year I got my mom slippers and a brain teaser book (next time, just get her a word search, the big print kind, that's her favorite part). I got her husband a knife (I think he really likes it, he says I am going to inherit it). I got my brother and nephew the be Family Guy Xbox game. I got my Dad and his gf these metal brain teaser toy things. I got Jeff a Swiss Army knife and some other stuff. I got Carlos a book. My secret santa recipient at work was Kevin, but I couldn't get a 60's Motown record for him, so I just got him a Starbucks gift card (sorry Kevin). I got a cute Christmas card for everyone else. Here's what it looks like:

I got the following gifts:

I got my friend Carlos a copy of Ulysses (he wanted Finnegan's Wake) and I got one for myself, too. I even started a blog about it.

New slippers (thanks mom) and pajama pants.

Mini flashlight (it's a family tradition)!

Regency House Party! (I wanted either this or Frontier House).

A frisbee golf putter!

A little pink pocket knife like I had when I was a kid!

Chocolate!

A whole box of the pens I like to use at work (I really wanted these)!

Three new nail polishes! (Not shown: the Tifffany blue that I already started using two weeks ago). There's a metalic blue and a gray! I've never had gray nail polish before. I think I'm going to try it today. You know I love nail polish.

I got this chia pet-like gift from my secret santa at work. Today is day one.

Best Blog Pictures of 2010

This Blog: A Pictorial Year in Review.

Here are some of the best pictures I've used

in my 66 posts this year!

I took this picture! Isn't it cute? You can get your own Pocket Buddha here.

Sad Don Draper was a meme I could get on board with.

Daniel V. is too cute!

I got gold nails for my New Years 2010 manicure.

Yeah.

And Popsicle Monkey.

Gold Nails

Here is a picture of my New Years manicure: I got gold nails. It is gold nail polish covered with gold glitter polish! They are pretty cool looking. I feel like I'm on my way to Studio 54 or something. My nails are not very long, though, because my guitar class (level B!) starts again on Monday.

I want to try this myself at home, but I haven't found any gold polish yet.

Navy Blue Nail Polish

The hot weather is finally here (in So. Cal at least) and that means it is time to get a pedicure so you can wear those cute new sandals. Remember a couple of years ago when black nail polish became main stream and wasn't just for Depeche Mode concerts anymore? Kindergarten teachers were wearing it to work and so forth? Well, it seems like the hot color this year is Navy blue.

Dark blue is a cool alternative to plain black. People can't really accuse you of being goth or emo and you still get away from shiny pinks and reds (or, the "it" color of two years ago, coral).

I have a suggestion for all of you who wish to jump on this trendy bandwagon, and that is...

Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer in "Navy Baby" (in the square bottle).

I tested several types at the store on my thumb nail (which ended up looking, as my friend said, like I had "hit it with a hammer") and this was by far the best. It's not thin so that you have to put on several coats (I, in fact, only used one coat!) and it's very dark. All of your friends will want to wait two weeks and then go out and get it after they see it on you, so they don't look too much like they are copying you.

I don't get paid for this or anything, but to buy it online, go here:

Mission Impossible V: Rogue Nation

I am re-watching all of the Mission Impossible films. Here are my thoughts on MI:5: Why wasn't Jeremy Renner in Fallout? Does he die i...
