Where Are You in the Movie of Life (Again)?

I wrote about this site before here, but I was just thinking about it again today. It's a site where you put in your birthday and how old you think you'll be when you die and they show you what scene you are at in a certain movie.

Here's where I am in Star Wars, The Wizard of Oz, The Princess Bride, and Titanic.

Project Runway Season 12 Episode 2 Live Blog

Tonight is the second episode of season 12 and I'm here to live blog it as it happens, taking pictures of the screen when necessary. I update at each commercial break. Here we go!

"I need to sew my hookers" - Sandro

A big truck pulls up with a guard. I know from the preview last week that the challenge involves expensive diamonds. Each model will have a necklace, bracelet, etc. and the designers must design something that goes with/shows off the jewels. The guards have guns. Heidi comes out with the button bag and Kate hopes its not teams.

Alexander: "Wow. Wow."

The jewels are worth over $30 million. The look they must create is glamorous. Timothy doesn't like this challenge. The designers get to choose the model they want, also choosing the diamonds that come with them. I can't tell how many of them stuck with the model they had before.

They will finally get to try out the new Go-Bank account (they get $4,000 for the whole season) and we will finally get to see Swatch at Mood! They only get one day to make this evening gown.

Timothy wants to do something called trash for treasure.

The girl with the tattoos is doing a strapless dress which sounds like a good plan to me.

Mood! Someone whose name I don't remember goes for silk prints while Timothy goes to the garbage. I'm already getting tired of typing things about Timothy.

I hate shin length dresses. Yuck. The Russian is doing one.

"Bye Swatch!"

Kate is doing some kind of costume. Sandro and Ken are fighting in the sewing room. Oh, Ken pulled out, "Speak correct English." Not cool.

COMMERCIAL #1

Sue has some liquid silver-looking fabric. Bradon has some cool silver curtain fabrics.

COMMERCIAL #2

Tim gives Kahindo some help by suggesting she layer her print with a sheer green fabric for her African-inspired look.

Timothy's look is a mess and Tim says it looks like a ticket home.

Alexander Pope is giving Kate crap for not being original. His name isn't even original. I still like him. He's like, "Omigod, I have to go drape a skirt in like twenty minutes!"

Sue has a problem with her sewing machine and is freaking out.

COMMERCIAL #3

2 hours to runway and Sandro is running around shouting about sewing hookers.

Tattoo's dress looks bad and it looks even worse next to Kate's look which has the same kind of top, but better.

In the make-up room, they have found L'oreal's sustainable line of makeup which should make Timothy's model pretty happy.

A designer whose name I don't know is putting a matching headband on her model. Sandro is putting a bra on his head...

Sandro is upset because no one will help him work the steamer, so he calls on a crew member to help him, but the crew member doesn't help, so Sandro starts crying.

COMMERCIAL #4

On the runway the 15 designers look nervous. Heidi's hair looks super be beachy cute.

First up is Dom's look! She's the one whose name I keep forgetting who put a headband on her model.

Justin made a black dress. Luckily, it is not a hot mess or he would be in the bottom for being so boring. His model's hairnet hair is crazy.

Ken's green peplum dress is boring and the top is ill-fitting.

Kahindo's camp-looking cocktail dress is kinda cute.

I don't like how short Alexandria's dress is in the front - is this a fashion trend I don't know about? It looks like a mistake to me.

The proportions are off on Miranda's ugly blue top/skirt.

Alexander's dress has wow. I'm glad he didn't put the sleeves up.

Kate's Marie Antoinette look is pretty good. The styling is also spot on.

Timothy should go home, but there are a lot of messy looks tonight...

Karen's blue silk dress fits weird at the armpits. Is that on purpose?

Jeremy's dress has a lot of drama - he is safe at least.

Sandro's model can barely walk in that tight dress thing.

Helen (that's tattoo's name) is crying - Heidi even asks if Tim wants to go and talk to her! (She's not supposed to give away that the dress is hers). She's shaking and Sandro is trying to comfort her awkwardly as Tim approaches - in front of everyone.

COMMERCIAL #5

Tim whispers something to her, then says "We're going to carry on, everyone." Tim is so great. I love him. The dress doesn't look good, but it's not the worst.

I don't like how Sue's dress is a halter and the necklace has to go over parts of it. The two don't look like they belong together. She thinks she "definitely nailed it" however.

Bradon's dress is cute, but I'm not crazy about the black trim and I don't like the little jacket thing.

Heidi calls Dom, Sandro, Timothy, Kahindo, Helen, and Kate forward - they are the top and bottom six. Obviously Kate and Kahindo are in the top, with... Dom, I guess. Kate's dress is pretty, but no one thinks it is very original.

Everyone like's Dom's look, but not the headband (called it).

Timothy's dress has a racerback in the front and no one cares for it much, but they don't seem to really hate it.

Kate's model is so tall! The guest judge (a costume designer) likes it. Everyone likes the gray color.

Sandro's look is overdone again after they told them not to last week, but Heidi likes it. Posen thinks it is a little trashy since the sides are sheer.

Kahindo's dress is maybe in the bottom? Heidi thinks it is too simple/boring/off-the-rack. Sad. No one thinks it showcases the necklace. So... maybe Helen is going home?

Helen explains that she never made a dress with cups before. Helen says "go big or go home." Up close, this dress really is worse than Timothy's. Helen's crying again because of how much she loves couture - she's even making Sandro tear up, but Nina is not going for it.

Maybe Tim will use the Tim Gunn save this early to save Helen?

Back stage, Alexandria is mean to Timothy and Sandro is telling him to just shut up in front of the judges. According to the online-voting thing, viewers think Timothy is going home.

Heidi calles Nina "Mean-a." :)

Tim gets to speak on Kahindo's behalf and explains that he advised her to put the layer over the print.

Tim explains that Timothy's dress is 1000 times better than his first attempt.

LAST COMMERCIAL

Kate is the winner and Kahindo is out.

Project Runway Season 12 Episode 1 Live Blog

Tonight is the premiere of Project Runway season 12 (can you believe it?) and I'm here to live blog it as it happens, taking pictures of the screen when necessary. I update at each commercial break. Here we go!

"Remember the Unicorns" - Timothy

The first four designers are at some old-timey airport. One of them is from Russia. Three more designers arrive - the one in a hot pink shirt and bright blue pants claims to be "a force to be reckoned with" I'm going to guess right now that he gets voted off tonight! The guy with the orange hair says "Some people love me some people hate me" - I love him! Are they jumping out of airplanes?

Heidi and Tim arrive to welcome them to the "runway" (oh, I get it! Runway!). Hey! A former designer is returning to be the 16th person in the competition, I didn't know that. It's Kate from last season. Who cares? Are there really a lot of Kate fans out there? At least it's not Project Runway Teams anymore. One designer is deaf! Cool.

Love Heidi's glasses and Tim's suit is amazing! Gotta take a picture:

Are they making something out of a parachute? They are. Kate fell trying to get the yellow one that no one else wanted.

A bunch of other stuff just happened, but when I tried to update after the first commercial it was all deleted. The highlights include my favorite orange-haired designer saying that he designed costumes for The Lion King and Mary Poppins, a guy with a beard who was a professional modern dancer, and a woman who used to be in the army.

COMMERCIAL #1

Kate is being nice to everyone and explaining how it goes. The Russian guy is so cute! He is making a swimsuit and said something about having potential which was cute, but which also got deleted from this blog somehow.

We get to see inside the hotel a little, but I'm not that impressed with the decor. Here is Orange Hair and his roommate Modern Dancer (who also kind of has orange hair, but he has a beard):

And now I can finish trying to fix the mistake with the blog and continue watching (I had to pause - sorry!)

There's an older guy who has two really cute kids!

AHH! The orange-haired guy's name is Alexander Pope! Seriously. Love him. He can't believe the woman with the blond sort of dreadlocks doesn't know how to use a basic sewing machine (she is trying to do 3,000 pleats, and based on her sketch it is not going to look very good even if she does finish the pleats, which seems unlikely).

Timothy doesn't usually use electricity. He is into, like, sustainable stuff. He's "waiting to get into a situation with a wood stove" which almost would have won best quote of the episode, if he hadn't already said something about unicorns. Now Timothy is burning his dress to make it "interesting." The Russian and the former model (Alexandria?) are not getting slong.

TIM TIME!

Tim likes the colorblocking that Alexandria the former model is doing, but to me the parachute fabric is really bunching up at the seams and does not look good - that's probably going to be true for most of the designers, though.

Alexander says, "Kate's dress is soooo girly" and then makes a face. :)

Brandon is the name of the modern dancer. His inspiration is wind. Tim says there is something James-Bondish about it.

Tim likes the effect the burning had on Timothy's fabric. Ken (he was pink/shirt blue pants guy) thinks Timothy's dress is awful. Timothy wants his model to go barefoot, so Tim tells him to go for it.

The army girl is not using her parachute very much. This could really hurt her because it's kind of breaking the rules, but this has happened before on PR with mixed results.

COMMERCIAL #2

Helen has tattoos. I haven't mentioned her yet. She is also not really using much of her parachutte in the garment.

A few more designers whose names I don't know also get critiques from Tim.

Dreadlocks is named Sue. She had 1% hope after the pleating didn't go well, but Tim thinks her garment is a knockout.

The Russian is named Sandro. He is making a jacket for the top of his swimsuit (what?)

The models are here. Timothy asks his model how she feels about "acting and moving awkwardly and things like that." She's going to try. He wants her to channel the Virgin Mary and to sniff her armpit.

The designer with the short blonde hair has made something with a hood that looks like a raincoat to me.

The models leave and the second night is over. Tomorrow is the runway.

COMMERCIAL #3

Tim has to stop and ask Timothy what he is doing (pulling is model, which he calls "choreography." Time reminds him that each model has the same amount of time on the runway. The model wonders if she should just walk normally. Timothy: "Um, no."

Hair and make-up time. Fun, summery, smoky eye, cat eye, etc. Timothy's model can't have product or anything that's plugged in. Just bobby-pinning and braiding and no make-up. After he leaves, his model starts to cry.

The army woman is wearing a uniform.

Sandro's swimsuit has a camel toe situation. Yikes. How can he not lose?

And now off to the runway...

COMMERCIAL #4

Part of their prize is a year's supply of water. They actually get A LOT of prizes - over half a million dollars worth.

Zac Posen is back as a judge (No more Michael Kors??) Nina is there, and Kate Bosworth is the guest Judge. Tim gets to be a judge kind of, but not really. He just gets to save one person. The runway will also be anonymous this year so the judges will not know who designed which look until after they have graded them.

The show begins and first up is Sue the pleater. It's OK. Nina is smiling.

I really like Brandon "Modern Dancer"'s wind-inspired look. It is short with a long train:

Braidon

Jeremy is the name of the guy who has kids. He did what looks like track/hiking pants and a white T-Shirt.

Kahindo has not stood out to me so far, but I kind of like her pleated purple and pink skirt.

Sandro's model is covering her crotch with her hands and some fringe stuff, but, yeah.

The designer with the tattoos has an ugly wrinkly butterfly looking dress thing.

Alexandria's colorblock dress is next. Then Karen's stripy moo-moo thing.

Timothy's model does not really so the performance/choreography. She doesn't even sniff her armpit, so he is pretty disappointed.

Justin (the deaf guy) has constructed his dress pretty well, but I think it's sort of boring:

Kate's dress looks like a sexualized apron to me, not a "sexy princess" as she puts it.

Angela's short raincoat.

Alexander's diamond dress looks great coming out, but starts to ride up a little in the front. This should not be a problem at all since Sandro's model's vagina was out and all.

Feather Earrings is named Dom. Her look has a jacket. It's OK.

Ken has a ruffley orange dress. It's actually cute, so I was wrong to guess he would be the first one voted off. Heidi smiled.

Miranda (army) has a really so-so looking dress considering she made it out of fabric instead of a parachute

JUDGING

Now they know who made which garment. She calls Angela, Sue, Miranda, Brandon (I think his name might be Braidon), Sandro, and Timothy as the high and low six. Sandro should probably go, but I think Miranda will be the one out. We'll see!

COMMERCIAL #5

They don't like Timothy. Why is he wearing sparkly high heels and his model is barefoot (also, her hair looks bad. I feel bad for her).

They all like Sue.

Nina likes Miranda, but is disappointed she used the black fabric - Heidi has a huge problem with it. It looks like she is going to skate by, though.

They don't like Angela's because it's missing a bottom (no pants, skirt or anything). Nina calls it a disposable poncho. I think she will be out.

They like Braiden's. Heidi "really really" likes it. It's my favorite of the six they picked.

Sandro explains his inspiration - something about "early twentieth century" but Zac calls her a slutty cat toy. "NOW I understand" says Sandro. Heidi mentions the taste level, but it looks like he is safe. Now that I think about it, the idea to make swimwear out of parachute material is actually very clever.

New this season, Tim comes out with the six models so the judges can get a closer look! That is VERY different! This part of the show is going on too long. Tim says he would give Miranda an F for using that black fabric - he is right.

COMMERCIAL #6 (those new Mr. Clean commercials freak me out)

The winner is Braiden! Hooray for Alexander's roomie. He gets immunity.

And it's down to Timothy and Angela. They've got to keep Timothy just for how much interest he adds to the show. And they do.

That means Angela is out.
